Isa Fulford, the The investigation of the new Openai Agent Chatgpt needed to ask for a lot of muffins, so he asked the AI tool to do it for her. “I was very specific about what I wanted, and it was a lot of cupcakes,” he says. “It took almost an hour, but it was easier than me, because I didn’t want to do it.”
Openai has launched a new Chatgpt agent using a virtual browser to complete tasks and can generate downloadable files, specifically PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets. Although it is not a complete replacement for Microsoft Workplace tool suite, the functions included in this Openai agent could ignore the confidence of some users in Microsoft’s business software. The two companies are members of a long time and currently in contract negotiations on continued access to Openai models.
The launch is part of Openai’s progress to turn his almost three -year Chatbot into a money product. It is not a small feat, despite the millions of users of the tool, when you consider the costs to train and execute AI models, as well as the exorbitant salaries needed to retain members of top -notch staff.
An agent, in this context, refers to an AI tool that is capable of, or at least attempts: programming and websites of third parties and making decisions about his trip to complete the digital tasks, following an initial set of user instructions. “Agent” is the most unpleasant of keywords right now for companies that seek to sell tools of generative AIs, especially those who have a look at business clients.
“We have tried to create a product with many cases of business use,” says Yash Kumar, the product leader at Agent Chatgpt. In addition to their files that generate files, the agent can fill out online forms, use a programming terminal and make calls to public APIs on online services such as Google Drive and SharePoint.
This is not the first agent launched by Openai in 2025. The new Chatgpt Agent brings together aspects of Openai’s web navigation operator and its deep processing research functions, both published earlier this year, and were considered agents by the startup. “I was on the deep research team and Yash was on the operator’s team,” says Fulford. “We realized that the two products are very complementary and basically we decided to combine equipment.” The Chatgpt Agent may change between interacting with a visual browser, where it can click on the operator and a text -based browser, where we can process websites such as deep research.
The launch of the Chatgpt Agent comes first to Pro, Plus and to team subscribers, from today for Pro users. Business and education companies will probably receive access to the late summer function. In the launch, Pro users are generally charged to 400 directions of agents per month, with 40 indications allowed for the other levels of users who pay. It is unclear when this feature will be published for CHATGPT FREE USERS.
